GAIA Children is a start-up with a circular economy focus. Gaia was started due to a need for a more sustainable Baby & Children industry. Clothes, toys and accessories for kids are creating so much waste and we are trying to do our part to save the planet. It's a win-win situation for parents and the environment.

GAIA is not only about fashion, but about what YOU need as (new) parents or parents to be. Our aim is to make your life as easy and smooth as possible, hassle free and colourful. That is also why our collection is not limited to what you see on the website. If you want to rent products that you do not find in our shop, just let us know and we will take a look. Let us worry about everything while you rent and enjoy. We therefore aim at the sustainable yet fashion conscious parents. Need a present for parents to be? GAIA, what does it mean?

Before I could speak properly, I used to point at myself and say "Gaia". I ended up calling myself Gaia (my actual name is Laura) for the first few years of my life. Interestingly, Gaia is also, in greek mythology, the personification of the earth and the ancestral mother of all life. Clearly that was fate so the name GAIA Children emerged. 

Our Mission Statement

Our mission is to create an economic system that keeps products in circulation by renting them to customers, thereby maximizing the lifespan of the product and minimizing the creation of waste, pollution and carbon emissions. We want to provide you with the beautiful, high quality and sustainable items that you deserve, with the least bit of effort from your end. It should be good for you, your wallet and good for our planet, so that our children can live a healthy happy life. From happy people, for happy people.

Passion and Care: We are fully passionate about sustainability and revolutionizing the baby & children industry. Not only in our heart, but also in our mind. That also means caring for you as an individual, our children and our planet we are leaving for them. Because passionate and cared for people are happy people.

Efficiency: We like to avoid all kinds of waste, that also includes wasted time and effort.

About me

 

I am Laura - a warm-hearted, energetic and joyful human being that loves new challenges. I grew up in Zurich and Singapore and have also lived in Hong Kong, Beijing and London until settling back in my beautiful hometown of Zurich in 2015. After finishing my Masters in Banking and Finance in St. Gallen, I started my career in Investment Banking, in Foreign Exchange. After 10 years in the industry,  I thought it was finally time to dedicate my life and time to something I truly believe in, while also doing good: Building my company "GAIA Children". The idea of GAIA emerged during the first Coronavirus Lockdown in 2020 and hasn't let me go until I decided to quit my job and charter into unknown territory. And now here we are with GAIA.
